Windows Vista – Adding Custom Pictures to User Accounts

This tutorial will allow you to change the picture that displays for each user account.
First select the picture you would like, it can be anything you want, like your pet or a vacation picture. Then you will have to resize it to 128x128 pixels, you can resize your photo in any photo editing program then save it as a bmp file.

Once you have your photo you need to copy it to the
“Program Data\Microsoft\User Account Picture\Default Pictures” folder.
Now open the control panel by clicking on the start globe and selecting control panel.

Click on Images for Larger View.


Next click on “User Accounts and Family Safety”



Then click on “Change Your Account Picture”



You should now see your new picture, just click on it and then click Change Picture.
That’s all there is to it, your new picture will show on the welcome screen and the start menu.
