Windows Vista – Manually Create Restore Points

Restore points where first introduced in Windows XP and Microsoft continued that feature in Windows Vista. The difference is vista will only create a restore point when significant changes are made to the operating system files, in some cases it may be to late by then. It is good practice to manually create a restore point when you buy a new computer with xp or vista installed or upgrade your hard drive.

A word of caution, if you ever have to use system restore keep in mind that any programs you have installed after the restore point you choose may need to be reinstalled, but all of your personal data will be unaffected.
